Hi, thanks for visiting AVD-CREATIVE. My name is Aimée van Drimmelen and I'm an artist based on the west coast of Canada. Every day I am inspired by the nature that surrounds me, the times of great change we are living in, and the people I meet when I walk my dog.

I acknowledge that I live and work on the unceded territories of the Penelakut people, on Spune’luxutth island. I am thankful to be learning about the culture, traditions and values of these communities who's land I am priviledged to live within. I gain a lot of inspiration from the work being done locally and across the country by Indigenous leaders and their allies who are standing up to care for their people and protect the land for future generations. Thank you for setting a good example.

My most recent news is the release of a picture book, The Late, Great Endlings: Stories of the Last Survivors (Orca Book Publishers, 2022) by Deborah Kerbel. Look for it at your favourite book store! So cool to have this important book out in the real world and getting nice reviews like this one:

★“This beautiful dedication to these special animals brings the reality and the irreversible finality of extinction to the forefront and calls on readers to act now, before so many other animals become endlings. Highly recommended for all collections.” —Booklist, starred review

I love the challenge of exploring subject matter that I care about, and using my skills to communicate a message in creative ways. Over the years I have had the opportunity sell my work around the world, and collaborate with such clients as Orca, The NFB, The Royal BC Museum, Walrus, Reader's Digest Canada, The Boston Globe and many others.

I am currently interested in partnering with progressive initiatives that are seeking visuals that inspire, whether it's to illustrate a great story, support an ecological initiative, promote an ethical businesses, or brighten up a space with original art. I'm excited to hear about your project! Please drop me a line if you'd like to chat further at [email protected]. Keep in touch by signing up to my newsletter using the link below, where I send the odd update on my various projects, art for sale, etc.
